sequencingofthehumangenomeanddevelopmentofgenome-widemicroarrayplatformsnowpermitanalysis
ofskinagingatthelevelofgeneexpression.Analysisofgeneexpressiondifferencesbetweenyoungandold
sun-protectedandsun-exposedskinshowedthatphotoagingproducesmanysimilar(butmoresevere)changes
ingeneexpressionversuschronologicaging.However,somechangesareuniquetooneformofagingorthe
other.Bioinformaticstoolsalsoenableanintegratedanalysisofgeneexpressionthemesandpathways,which
mayprovidenewinsightsintothemechanismsofskinagingandpossibleinterventions.
