How will you guys celebrate the arrival of 2017? To those who stay in Beijing, I recommend a triennial exhibition now at the National Art Museum of China. Contemporary Gongbi Art Exhibition encourages artists to translate the spirit of gongbi tradition into the modern context and has been held 10 editions. 明天就是2017年了，大家都是怎么辞旧迎新的呢？ 在北京的各位，推荐在中国美术馆的“共在当代”大展，每三年举办一次、以鼓励当代工笔创作为主旨，至今已经到了第10届。 Classical gongbi painting featured meticulous, delicate brushwork when portraying such common subjects as figures, flowers and birds. 如同字面所指，传统的工笔画讲究用细致精确的笔法来描绘，常见的主题有人物，花卉和鸟类。 The art of gongbi include two categories: Baimiao which indicates that painters delimit the details with ink strokes but do not add colors, and Zhongcai or heavy colors which means that painters layer vivid colors mainly containing natural mineral pigments. 工笔画主要分为两种：白描，即画家仅仅用墨色线条细细勾勒出细节、而完全不依靠颜色；重彩，就是画者用含有天然矿物颜料的色彩、层层渲染出炫丽的效果。 At the current exhibition, people will see how artists of today incorporate multiple mediums and approaches, including sculptures, installation, video and virtual reality technology, by which they hope to diversify the presentations of gongbi art. 在这次的大展上，大家可以看到艺术家们在工笔的创作中融汇了诸多绘画以外的材质和方式，比如雕塑、装置、影像和虚拟现实技术（VR)，极大的丰富了工笔艺术的表现效果。
The exhibition also presents a special on-site project: recreation of Yongle Temple mural painting. Wang Shujie, a master of ancient mural restoration and students of art restoration at Central Academy of Fine Arts will complete the task during the exhibition. 这次展览还有一个特别的现场单元：再现永乐宫壁画。古代壁画修复专家王书杰老师带领来自中央美术学院修复专业的同学们在展览期间、完成对部分永乐宫壁画的临摹。 The mural at Yongle Taoist Temple, in Ruicheng county, Shanxi province, is recognized as a masterpiece of Chinese art. Painted in the Yuan Dynasty, it portrays some 300 Taoist immortals with gongbi technique. 位于山西芮城永乐宫内的壁画被誉为中国艺术史上的杰作。这些完成与元代的壁画描绘了大概300位道教诸神，也是工笔人物画的代表作。
