几位美国主播想了很久，都说没有对应的。

• Single: 单身
  

• Singleton: 单身人士

• Lonely and lowly: 寂寞、没地位

• Lowly single? 单身狗？

催婚、逼婚

催婚英语怎么说？

• Push you to get married 

• Pressure you to get married

• Encourage you to get married

两个P比较直接，encourage比较婉转

催婚时，比较直接的长辈会说：

'You're not getting any younger': 岁数不小了

亲戚很关心

Concerned relatives at family gatherings: 家庭聚会时，有些亲友特别关心你的个人问题

外国亲戚这样问：

• Is there anyone special in your life?

• Are you seeing anyone special?

• Have you been seeing anyone lately?

英语有句俚语：

• Elephant in the room: 屋里的白大象，意思是大家特别想聊又不敢聊的话题

Beating around the bush: 绕圈子

Nosy relatives：八卦、爱管闲事的亲戚

Probe: 打探

Subtle: 婉转

#1. Matchmaking

Matchmaking：相亲、介绍、做媒

Family or friends can both be matchmakers：家人、朋友都会帮你介绍

But friends are much more common: 但是更多情况是朋友

Matchmaking services: 相亲服务

如果你们很配：

• You two are a match!
  

• You two go together well!

• You two are a great fit!

#2. Set up

Set you up with someone: 给你介绍

朋友间介绍, 会这么说： 

• There's this guy/girl that you should really meet!

• You two have a lot in common!

• You two remind me of each other!

#3. Hook up

不太认真的关系，至少开始时，大家都没从长远角度出发：

• Hook-up

• NSA (no strings attached)

• Flings

美国人用什么相亲交友App? 

相亲节目在美国也很红！

Dating shows: 相亲节目

男生版：The Bachelor ??

Bachelor: 单身汉，英语里这个词的含义是钻石王老五

女生版：The Bachelorette ??

Bachelorette: 单身女，同上，通常也指条件特别好的白富美

条件好??

条件好最常用的说法有：

• Have money and looks

• They have it all

• They've got the full package

• They're marriage material：特别适合结婚的对象

合适最重要

Go on blind dates: 去相亲

Not meant for each other:  不合适、没缘分

Soul-crushing experience: 摧毁灵魂的经历
