power, strength, force和energy（1）power指“力”，含义最广，指政治力量或能力。如：Knowledge is power.知识就是力量。（2）strength指某人或某物所具有的内在力量，可指体力、力气；还可指优势、优点、长处。如：The ability to keep calm is one of his many strengths.能够保持冷静是他的多项长处之一。The boy gathered his strength to stand up.那个男孩积聚力量站了起来。（3）force也可以指物质或精神力量。多指为做某事而使用的力量，武力；也可指物理学上的力。如：It took him great force to lift the stone.举起那块大石头费了他很大的力气。（4）energy主要指“人的精力；自然界的力量”。如：Electrical energy raises and lowers elevators.电能使电梯升降。Old as he is, he has so much energy that he can work 14 hours a day.尽管年级大了，但他有足够的精力每天工作14小时。
