It owns two theaters, with 1074 seats in the Grand Theater and 291 seats in the Experimental Theater. Chinese folk dancing is based on the normal life of its people. Every single person is living in his or her moment. “Vagabond Age”does not tell some specific love, people or story. It shows people’s feelings on stage with Chinese Mongolian music and dance. It explores everyone’s “vagabond”in the modern society and tries to express what is “myself”in the endless time with a modern dancing form. 《Pearl》 ▌Date: 19:30 May 18-19, 2017 ▌Venue: Shanghai International Dance Center · Grand Theater ▌Performance group: American Pearl Show Group ▌Tickets: ¥80, ¥180, ¥280, ¥380, ¥480, ¥680, ¥880 “Pearl: A Moonlit Night on the Spring River”uses a brand new international perspective and merges different culture styles in its story. It uses a vibrant form to tell the story of American writer Pearl Buck, a Nobel and Pulitzer winner. The performance is inspired by the famous poem “A Moonlit Night on the Spring River”by Tang Dynasty poet Zhang Ruoxu, with five chapters of spring, river, flower, moon and night, each representing Pearl Buck’s youth, travel, works, memory and dream relatively. Composer Jun Miyake created the performance’s music with various styles such as Asian percussion music and the pop dancing music in the early 20th century. He also uses traditional Chinese instruments and local musical forms in his work, as well as created a new version of ancient Chinese music piece“A Moonlit Night on the Spring River.” 《The Painted Garden》 ▌Date: June15-18, 2017 ▌Venue: Shanghai International Dance Center · Experimental Theater ▌Performance group: Compagnia T.P.O ▌Tickets: Coming Soon “The Painted Garden”is a performance from Compagnia T.P.O’s trilogy “Children’s Happy Magic Blanket.” The story is set in a palette with colorful brushes. Artist Herbo invites young and adult friends to a tour to his favorite four-color garden: yellow garden (earth), blue garden (sea), green garden (trees) and red garden (passion). The magic blanket is the stage and the dancers perform with voice and images together. Two dancers will help the young audience to become the main characters in the story.
