据央视称，许先生现在还会反思，觉得当年有些地方译得不当："我译的是Don't cast away，也是‘丢掉’，但语气重，有抛弃的意思。林徽因的感情是怀念，语气并没有那么重，翻成抛弃就不太好了。所以翻译，不能按字翻，字面上的意思都对，但感情不一定对。现在要我翻，我会译成Don't forget（别忘掉），英文的意思就缓和了。"
