以此文向中国英法翻译第一人许渊冲老先生表达我们无上的敬意。
除了诗歌本身的修辞和内涵，汉诗和英诗对格律均有着各自的讲究。我们在学生时代学习过中国古诗词严谨的格律和平仄，同样的，英诗也有例如“Iambics”等对音步、节奏和格律的诸多传统。
因此，把一种语言中最简洁却最有内涵的文字，在符合另一种语言严苛要求的前提下，译成同样完美的文字，非精通两种语言的高手不能为之。 关于诗歌翻译的诸多理论，译界多有争议，但在具体的诗歌中，是否精确地传达韵律、是意译还是直译，本各有长短。但岛君比较坚持的一点是：不可篡改原文的文风—原文风格古典的诗歌应译出古香，原文接近口语的诗歌应采用现代语文的文体；篡改文风的译法显得喧宾夺主。
下面这五首诗是众译界前辈的杰作。中文诗歌以单音节语言的明快节奏感，转换为英文诗歌那种悠远绵长的律动流转，两厢配合，令人心生欢喜。
