All the See Through Dresses at the Met Gala Scroll back up to restore default view. When it comes to making a fashion statement, Kendall Jenner learned from the best. She strolled the Met Gala carpet in a La Perla Haute Couture gown. The sheer, backless look came with a thigh-high slit and a diagonal chest-baring cutout, and left not much to the imagination on the back. As Bustle reports, the look was made of thread and 85,000 hand-painted crystals. Jenner capped off all that opulence with a simple red lip and otherwise natural beauty look. She also looked completely calm and collected while walking around in what is essentially a sheer sheet. We have two questions: How many hours went into tailoring this, and who will get in deep trouble if it slips? A high-fashion crystal sheet is hard to keep in place, as visible in this video of Jenner subtly adjusting her shoulder straps while chatting with Dakota Fanning. Note her perfect posture, even in pretty much nothing else but heels and a thong. Jenner clearly has no problem claiming the red carpet, but she’s also taken a cue from Rose McGowan’s iconic 1998 MTV VMAs sheer black “dress.” McGowan’s look is just as memorable despite (or maybe because of) even less fabric. Her knee-length mesh dress showed off her chest, whereas the fringed back had a Jennerlike focus on the booty. At the time, McGowan told Roseanne Barr that she planned to “cause an entrance, cause a scene, whatever” — and that she had to kneel on the limo on the way over to prevent “griddle butt…like a waffle print.” We can only hope that Jenner gives a similar rundown of the logistics (and magic) that went into her own “scene” of an evening. Paris Jackson has solidified her rise to the upper echelon of the fashion world. On Monday, Michael Jackson’s daughter attended the Met Gala in a sophisticated look designed by Raf Simons for Calvin Klein. The midi-length dress featured a chest cutout that flashed the slightest hint of underboob. The sleeveless piece also showed off some of her 50 tattoos. The 19-year-old seemed to have a fun time on the blue and tan carpet. She dabbed… …and took a bite out of one of A$AP Rocky’s braids. 2017 has been a breakout year for the teen. She signed a major modeling contract, got invites to sit front row during Paris Fashion Week, and even covered Harper’s Bazaar. What’s next? Not much can top the Met Gala, but surely she’ll think of something. Read more on Yahoo Style + Beauty:

Hello Giggles
Kendall Jenner’s barely-there Met Gala dress featured 85,000 crystals and VERY minimal fabric

Kendall Jenner doesn’t just want to shine bright like a diamond — she wants to shine bright like 85,000 diamonds! The supermodel practically shut down the 2017 Met Gala red carpet upon arrival last night, stepping out in a (practically) blinding La Perla Haute Couture Collection gown. Looking more like a work of magic than fashion, the glittering gown perfectly draped over the supermodel’s statuesque physique, revealing a collarbone to hipbone slit cutout in addition to a *whole* lot of skin. Now, this barely-there design is not for the faint of fashion. But this is the Kendall Jenner after all, and this girl’s never met a sartorial challenge that she didn’t just love. One of the few starlets who kept true to the Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Gar?ons theme without wearing a piece from the famed fashion label, Kendall’s dress hands down wins as one of the best (and most sheer) gowns of the night. The custom piece was designed just for Miss Jenner by La Perla’s creative director, Julia Haart. In addition to said 85,000 hand-painted (and handset!) crystals, the fairytale design also demanded 160 hours of manual labor from 26 different artisans. Whew, that’s a whole lot of man power! From the back, well, the dress didn’t exactly disguise much. From her bare back to her exposed behind, this dress was nothing short of drop-dead-sexy. In other words, it was the ideal pick for Miss Jenner! The Met Gala alum and all-around adored Vogue girl clearly knows her red carpet stuff. She rarely (if ever) makes a sartorial misstep, which is probably a result of the sound advice from her style-minded sisters. And albeit our opinion of the naked dress leans a little more on the side of “been there, done that,” this confection breathes a whole new life into the trend. Plus, with Kendall Jenner representing it, there’s no way it could be anything short of phenomenal. |
