The script of this programme 本节目台词 Tracy: Hello, welcome to Authentic Real English from BBC Learning English. I’m Tracy. Li: 大家好，我是杨莉。 Tracy: Li, your shoes are gorgeous. Are they new? Li: Yes. I had to buy them. 这双鞋挺贵的，不过可以搭配很多不同种类的衣服。 Tracy: I can see why you bought them. Those kitten heels are perfect for work and partying. Li: Why do people call them kitten heels? Tracy: Honestly, I don’t know. They just do. Perhaps it’s because they are as cute as a kitten. Li: 和小猫一样可爱。那么女鞋中的 kitten heel 和 stiletto heel 比起来都有哪些区别呢? Tracy: That’s a good question. They are both types of high-heeled shoe. A stiletto is a tall, slim-heeled shoe. Li: A stiletto 是鞋跟又高又细的高跟鞋。 Tracy: They are usually considered to be quite sexy.
How high are your heels? Li: Ok, and a kitten heel? Tracy: A kitten heel is a shoe with slightly shorter heel. The heels are usually no more than a couple of inches tall. Li: 就是说，中跟鞋的鞋跟要低一些，大概有两英寸左右。 Tracy: Exactly. Li: 那么中跟鞋看起来是不是比高跟鞋更职业一些？如果是上班的工作环境，是不是穿中跟鞋比高跟鞋更合适？ Tracy: Nowadays, women wear all different types of shoes. They might wear kitten heels or stilettos or another type of shoe to work. Li: What do you prefer to wear: kitten heels or stilettos? Tracy: That’s a tough one. I’m quite short so I often wear stilettos, although I think kitten heels are more comfortable. Li: 让我们来听听这些英国女孩子都喜欢穿什么样的鞋子。 Examples I normally wear stilettos to work. I think they look smarter with a suit than kitten heels.
I don’t own a single pair of kitten heels. I’m definitely a stiletto fan.
I have a couple of pairs of kitten heels which I wear to work but my favourite shoes are my stilettos. Li: That’s quite interesting. 比起 kitten heels，她们好像更喜欢穿 stilettos？这又是为什么呢？ Tracy: I don’t know, but there is a trend just now for very tall high heels.
