视觉词（sight word），也叫高频词，是英语启蒙读物中出现频率最高的单词，例如：a、and、for、the、is、in、of、that、the、so、on等。研究显示，儿童英语读物中50%-75%的内容由这些视觉词构成。

 

比较常用的视觉词是有Edward William Dolch博士通过分析当时的儿童读物整理而成，于1948年发表，包括220个单词。

今天栗子🌰老师要和大家一起来学习的内容是苏斯博士的一篇最最著名的文章《Green Eggs and Ham》（《绿色鸡蛋和火腿》），这个故事不复杂，讲的是两个人物的对话，一个人物叫“Sam-I-am”，另一个人物没有明确的名字，我们暂且叫他“坏脾气先生”，他的人物设计特别像蓝精灵里面的“厌厌”，对任何事物都排斥、厌恶、不肯尝试，但偏巧就碰到了“Sam-I-am”这个“一根筋”，特别执着、变通、好脾气。

“Sam-I-am”向“坏脾气先生”推荐一道菜，就是标题中的“Green eggs and ham”，“坏脾气先生”说什么也不肯吃，但是“Sam-I-am”就是发挥了他锲而不舍的钉子精神、不断变通，设计各种条件，让“坏脾气先生”尝试“绿色鸡蛋和火腿”，不论“坏脾气先生”如何拒绝，他都不放弃，最后，终于“坏脾气先生”为了摆脱“Sam-I-am”的纠缠，答应尝试一口“绿色鸡蛋和火腿”，结果发现自己爱上了这道菜，结局真是“happ ending”，如果把坚韧的“Sam-I-am”换成家长，把“坏脾气先生”换成厌食的孩子，这个故事也非常逼真哦。

这个故事依然沿袭了苏斯博士狂野的想象力，和句子的押韵感觉。整个故事特别具有洗脑功能，苏斯博士反复不断进行重复关键的词汇和句型。

《绿色鸡蛋和火腿》故事的创作源于Dr.Seuss和一位朋友打赌，能否用50个单词写成一个故事。于是便有了这本脍炙人口的书，并成为苏斯博士韵文诗文的经典代表！

这个故事大约由44个不同单词构成，其中29个单词都属于“视觉词”，视觉词所占的比例达到66%。这个故事朗朗上口，熟读之后特别容易背诵。最近由于组织这篇文章，栗子🌰老师的脑子里面回响的都是green eggs and ham。真可谓洗脑文啊！
