Mr Fox loved books.

But he loved them a bit differently to others.

‘Mmm, finished. This is a great book...ok, let me eat it. Yes, sprinkle some salt, pepper...tear it off page by page...yum yum...it’s good to read and good to eat.

Mr Fox spent all his money buying books.

He became poorer and poorer, but his appetite got bigger and bigger.

Finally one day, he had no money for books.

He walked around in frustration.

Suddenly, he smelled the rich fragrance of books.

“Those books smell so good! Lots and lots of books! Oh, it’s a library.”

Mr Fox walked into the library.

There was a room the size of a gymnasium, with rows and rows of full bookshelves.

“Mmmm, I’m sure that’s tasty...I’m not dreaming am I?”

“Let me see this one...mmm, yummy. Take a bite...oh, so good...hehe”

As time went by, more and more readers complained to the librarian...

“Look at this book, I just borrowed it, but someone’s taken a bite out of it.”

“And this one, it’s soggy, and smells like animals...yuk!”

The librarian noticed Mr Fox.

One morning, Mr Fox came to the library early. The librarian followed him.

“Hmmm, how about a Russian literary great today...I’ve already read it, so I can eat it for breakfast...a bit of salt, some pepper...mmm...delicious, gulp!”

“Book eating thief!” The library jumped out.

“Oh...what’s your name, you scared me.”

“How can you do that too books? From today, do not come back to the library.”

Mr Fox left the library.

“My happy days are gone.boohoo”

After that, Mr Fox could only eat some newspapers, free brochures.

These things were as bad to read as they were to eat.

Gradually, Mr Fox started to feel unwell, especially his digestive system.

“Oh,if I can’t eat good books, I can’t make good poo.”

“It’s not going to work, I have to find some books.”

Mr Fox found a beanie, he cut two holes and put it on like a mask.

He charged into the bookstore.

“Freeze! This is a robbery! I want books!”

He stuffed dozens of books in his bag and ran out.

Soon he stopped.

“Oh..these books are so heavy!” He dragged the book slowly across the road.

“Hurry up, what’s the deal?”

“Hey, what’s that animal with the hat on his face...a duck, or a dog?”

“Sorry, sorry...next time I rob a bookstore, I must borrow a trolley. First time as a robber, I’m inexperienced.”
