Optimization is a key component in machine learning. When problems scale up, normally only first-order optimization methods can be used in practice. In this talk I will briefly review some advances in the first-order optimization methods in machine learning. If time permits, I will also introduce some of my recent work on first order optimization. |

林宙辰，北京大学信息科学技术学院教授，国家杰出青年科学基金获得者。他的研究领域包括机器学习，模式识别，计算机视觉，图像处理，数值计算与优化等。他曾担任CVPR 2014 / 2016, ICCV 2015, NIPS 2015 等一些国际会议的领域主席，以及AAAI 2016/2017/2018，IJCAI 2016等国际会议的高级程序委员会成员。 他担任国际杂志IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence 和The International Journal of Computer Vision的编辑，是IAPR (The International Association for Pattern Recognition) Fellow。 |
