加州教材，是Macmillan/McGraw-Hill出版的一套教材的统称。大家最常见的是加州语文（Treasures/Wonders），但除语文外，加州教材还包括数学、科学、社会科学等多个学科。鹅爸爸的加州语文课，大家已经不陌生了。今天我们来看看：鹅爸爸如何玩科学。 课程主题： Ants（蚂蚁） 课程目标： - BasicObjectives（基本目标）： 1. The parts of an ant’s body.（认识蚂蚁的身体组成部分） 2. Ants live in tunnels underground.（蚂蚁生活在地下洞群） - AdvancedObjectives（进阶目标）： 3. Outdoor Play: What do ants like to eat?（户外活动：蚂蚁喜欢吃什么东西） 4. Be a Writer: A special ant.（写作练习：《一只特别的蚂蚁》） 接下来，选取鹅爸爸科学课堂的部分内容分享给大家： 每节科学课开始前，鹅爸爸都会请家长带孩子们走进大自然，去观察、感受、讨论我们的学习主题：Do you knowwhat they are? How do they look like? Are they tiny or large? What color arethey? What are they doing? Are they carrying food? Where are they going? 1. The parts of an ant’s body.（认识蚂蚁的身体组成部分） - An ant has 3 body parts: head, thorax and abdomen.（蚂蚁的身体由三部分组成：头部、胸部和腹部。） - An ant has 1 mouth, 2 eyes, 2 antennas and 6 legs.（蚂蚁有1张嘴、2只眼睛、2支触角和6条腿。） 科学知识的呈现可以是多种方式，而最被孩子们喜爱的方式无疑是最有效的。 鹅爸爸强调用英文学习英文，所以在科学实验和手工中，我们会提供尽量简明的英文对白或操作提示，方便家长与孩子们进行英文互动。 在对孩子们思维的训练上，除了鹅爸爸的C&C Thinking思维课堂，我们会在不同课程中，以多种方式进行引入和渗透。 2. Ants live in tunnels underground.（蚂蚁生活在地下洞群） 教学过程中，鹅爸爸会协助家长带孩子们回顾并思考我们的户外观察活动：Did you find ants’ house while observing outside? Does the ants’ house you found look the same as the one in this picture? And do you know what it looks like inside?

Imagine all the tiny pieces of dirt it takes to build a hill so high! - Ants live in tunnels underground. There’re lots of cavities in the tunnel. Each kind of ants may live together or in different cavities. 教学中，我们也会引入与主题相关的英文视频或电子书，弥补家长英文的不足和课堂教学的局限。
