Sir Everard Fraser, 1859-1922
I thought you might like to read, if you have
not already, a few lines from the article in the 25 March 1922 London Times
entitled "Shanghai's Tribute to Sir E. Fraser."
"The funeral... was the occasion of an immense
demonstration by the whole of the British and foreign community and all the
leading Chinese. No British subject in the history of our dealings with China
has commanded greater respect and affection than Sir Everard Fraseer, whom the
North China Daily News rightly describes as head and shoulders above all his
contemporaries in every respect."
His full name is given as Sir Everard Duncan Home Fraser, and
it is stated that he went out to Shanghai in March 1880.
