“我只想给你给你宠爱”，“宠爱”用英语怎么说？

算了，还是回到现实，来看看表示“宠爱”的那些单词~

首先的5个单词没有那么多贬义，就是单纯简单的宠爱啦~

1. dote on/upon 宠爱（某人）；溺爱（某人）

英语释义：to love someone completely and believe they are perfect

He dotes on the new baby.

他对刚出生的孩子非常宠爱。

2. favour 优惠；偏袒；特别照顾

英语释义：to give an advantage to someone or something, in an unfair way

She always felt that her parents favoured her brother.

她总觉得父母偏向弟弟。

或者可以用和favour有关的搭配：

As you know, the little cat is in favour with Aunt Mary.

要知道，这只猫深受玛丽大婶的宠爱。

3. cosset 宠爱，疼爱；溺爱

英语释义：to give a lot of attention to making someone comfortable and to protecting them from anything unpleasant

Children sometimes need to be cosseted.

孩子是需要疼爱的。

4. pamper 细心照顾，精心护理；纵容，娇惯

英语释义：to give someone special treatment, making that person as comfortable as possible and giving them whatever they want

pamper指的是极度地纵容，尤指过分注重享受，比如：

①She pampers her dog with the finest steak and salmon.

她给她的狗吃上好的牛排和鲑鱼，太娇惯了。

②She often pampers her children.

她经常娇惯孩子。

【小知识】

纸尿裤帮宝适的英文名字就是：Pampers。

5. favorite 受宠的人；受偏爱的人

英语释义：a person who is treated with special kindness by someone in authority

这里的favorite是名词，比如：

the teacher's favourite 老师的宠儿

接下来的单词就含有非难的意味了，表示“娇惯；纵容”~

6. mollycoddle 娇养；纵容；宠坏

英语释义：to give someone too much care or protection

这个词指对某人的健康或舒服过分照料，暗示有产生娇气的危险，比如：

You're not helping the children by mollycoddling them - they have to grow up sometime.

你娇惯孩子对他们没好处——他们总得长大的。

【笔记】

Molly作为人名，由内到外散发着女性的气息。（不禁想到了《神探夏洛克》里的茉莉了~）它可以形容爱尔兰女子，工人阶层的女孩，以及娘娘腔的男生……

另外，coddle这个词本身就表达“娇养；溺爱；用文火煮”。

7. baby 把…当婴儿看待；对…娇生惯养

英语释义：to treat an older child as if he or she were a much younger child

baby指的是像对小孩一样听之任之，百般呵护。

①Don't baby the boy.

别惯这孩子。

②Dick is babied by all the family.

狄克受到全家的宠爱。

8. indulge 纵容

英语释义：to give someone anything they want and not to mind if they behave badly

这个词指迁就或放任别人应该节制的欲望，但是含有的非难之意不强。

It is sometimes necessary to indulge a sick child.

迁就一个生病的小孩，有时是必要的。

9. humour 迁就；迎合

英语释义：to do what someone wants so that they do not become annoyed or upset

想不到吧，humour除了“幽默；滑稽”以外，还有“迁就，纵容”的意思。

①It is not wise to humour a small child.

纵容一个小孩是不明智的。

②It's always best to humour him when he's in one of his bad moods.

他心境不好的时候，最好还是迁就他。

10. pet

①作动词：宠爱，钟爱

It's wrong to pet a big boy like you.

宠爱你这么大的孩子是错误的。

②作名词：讨人喜欢的人；宠儿

The other children hated her because she was the teacher's pet.

别的孩子都恨她，因为她是老师的宠儿。

或者也可以说：make a pet of sb.宠爱某人

He made a pet of his delicate wife.

他很宠爱他那位娇弱的太太。

11. make a fuss of sb 对（某人）关怀备至；对（某人）体贴入微

英语释义：mainly us make a fuss over sb to give someone a lot of attention and treat them well

She doesn't see her grandchildren very often so she makes a real fuss of them when she does.

她不怎么经常见到孙子们，所以见到时往往对他们非常宠爱。

这是个常见的词组了，不过单个动词fuss也表示“过分体贴，关爱备至”。

She fussed over her dog.

她对她那条狗过分宠爱。

12. spoil （尤指极其慷慨地）宠爱，溺爱，纵容

英语释义：to treat someone very or too well, especially by being extremely generous

spoil指的是长时间的溺爱，暗示对一个人的个性产生了不良的影响。

比如“被惯坏了”就可以说“spoil sb rotten”，例句：

The children are spoiled rotten by their grandparents.

这些孩子们被爷爷奶奶惯坏了。

13. blue-eyed 蓝眼睛的；白人的；受宠爱的

blue-eyed boy （尤指得宠于当权者的）红人，宠儿

我想这是因为blue除了表示蓝色的，忧郁的，也常常表示社会地位高、有权势或出身贵族或王族。比如：

blue blood 名门望族

He boasted a lineage of pure blue blood.

你夸耀自己有纯贵族血统。

【笔记】

有趣的是，blue有时也表示“淫秽的，下流的”，比如：

a blue joke 下流的笑话

a blue movie/film 色情电影

His humour is a bit too blue for my tastes.

他的幽默对我来说有点儿太下流了。
