就因为一位校长写给家长一封信。
马上就要考试了，
我知道每位家长
都热切希望自己的孩子可以做得最好！
但是，请一定记住，
在我们参加考试的学生里面：
有艺术家，
所以他们不需要理解数学；
有企业家，
他们不需要那么关注英国文学史；
有音乐家，
所以他的化学分并不重要；
有运动员，
他的身体健康程度
要比他的物理成绩更重要一些.....
如果你的孩子考得很好，那棒极了！
如果没有考好，
请不要剥夺他们的自信和自尊。
告诉他们这没关系，这只是一次考试而已！
他们天生是为了更重要的事而塑造出来的！
告诉他们，
无论分数是多少，
你都会深深地爱著他们，
尊重著他们，
而不会去品评他们！
请一定要这样做！
当你这洋做......
你会看著你的孩子去征服世界！
一次考试， 一次低的分数
不会夺走他们的梦想和天分。
另外，请你明白，
并不只有医生和工程师们
才是世界上最快乐的人！
新西兰教育注重发掘学生自在的潜力，不要求学生各方面都好，只要求将自己的长处尽量发挥。上面是翻译的这封流传的新西兰学校校长给家长的一封信，老师教学生，校长教家长啊⋯⋯，以下是英文原文：
The exams of your children are to start soon. I know you are all really anxious for your child to do well.
But, please do remember, amongst the students who will be sitting for the exams there is an artist, who doesn't need to understand Math...There is an entrepreneu, whoes doesn't care about history of English literature...There isan musician, whose chemistry markts won't matter...There is an athlete... whose physical fitness is more important than physics...
If your child does get top marks, that is great! But if he or she doesn't...please don't take away their self-confidence and dignity from them. Tell them it's ok, it's just an exam! They are cut out for much bigger things in life. Tell them, no matter what they score...you love them and will not judge them.
Please do this, and when you do...watch your children conquer the world. One exam or a low mark won't take away their dreams and talents. And please, do not think that doctors and engineers... are the only happy people in the world.
