◆die v. 1. He died his father. /His father was died. 正:His father is dead. He died a heroic death. 如:die from an earthquake (a traffic accident, a lightning, a stroke, etc) 死于地震(交通事故,雷击等) (3) 若死因是环境影响到体内,即两方面共有的原因,则可用 of, from 均可。如:die of [from] a drink ( a wound, overwork, starvation, hunger and cold, etc) 死于饮酒(受伤,劳累过度,饥饿,饥寒等) 但是在实际运用中,两者混用的情况较多。 ◆difference n. 1. There are many differences between the two languages. There is much difference of opinion on the subject. The difference between 5 and 8 is 3. 5与8相差3。 如: differences among men 人们之间的不同意见 the difference of night and day 昼与夜的差异 3. The sea air has made a difference to her health. It makes no difference to me whether he goes or not. A:Does that make any difference? B:Yes, it makes all the difference. The rain didn’t make much difference to the game. ◆different adj. 1. City life is very different from [to, than] country life. Their tastes are different from [to, than] mine. He thinks differently from [to, than] you. He is much different from you. He is very different from me. This is quite different from that. Those two boys are completely different. This is not different from that. This is no different from that. 注:no different from = the same as 3. different(不同的)的反义词是 same(相同的),而不能想当然地认为是 indifferent(不关心的,冷淡的)。 He’s indifferent to this problem. He is indifferent to suffering and poverty. 注:indifferent 后通常接介词 to, 而不是 from/than。
