◆healthy & healthful adj.

1. healthy 有两个意思，一是指“健康的”，二是指“有益于健康的”。如：

She is very healthy. 她很健康。

Look at the healthy children. 你瞧这些健康的孩子。

有时用于比喻义。如：

That book is not healthy reading for children. 那本书供小孩读不健康。

2. healthful 在现代英语中通常只表示“有益于健康的”。如：

Doing morning exercises is very healthful. 做早操对健康很有益。

Why don’t you eat such healthy [healthful] foods? 你为什么不吃那些有益于健康的食物?

◆hear v.

1. 表示“听见”，通常为及物动词，多指无意识的动作。如：

I hear a sound, listen! 我听见有个声音，你听!

He listened but heard nothing. 他注意听，但什么也没听见。

注：有时也表示有意识的动作，指“倾听”、“听取”等。如：

We’d better hear what they have to say. 我们还是听听他们要说什么吧。

另外，hear 通常为及物动词，但有时也用作不及物动词。如：

He doesn’t [can’t] hear very well. 他听觉不灵。

2. 后接复合宾语，复合宾语中的动词可以用现在分词(指动作正在进行)或省去 to 的不定式(指一个完整的动作)。如：

I heard him sing [singing]. 我听见他唱歌。

注：以上句型变为被动语态，不定式要带 to。如：

He was heard to sing. 有人听见他唱歌。

若宾语与其后动词有动宾关系，则用过去分词。如：

Every day we hear it said. 我们每天都听人这么说。

Have you ever heard the song sung in Japanese? 你听过这首歌用日语唱吗?

◆heart n.

1. 表示“心”、“心脏”，汉语的“心脏病”说成英语是 heart trouble [disease]；表示心脏的跳动通常用动词 beat。

2. 比较 lose heart 与 lose one’s heart ：两者只差一个物主代词，但含义截然不同：前者意为“灰心”，后者意为“倾心于”、“爱上”。如：

My parents told me not to lose heart. 父母叫我不要灰心。

Mary lost her heart to her cousin. 玛丽爱上了她的表兄。

3. 用于 by heart, 意为“默记地”、“记下”，通常与 know, learn, get 等动词连用。如：

He asked me to learn it by heart. 他叫我把它记下来。

4. 用于 heart and soul(全心全意，全部心思)，可相当于副词用作状语，也可相当于名词用作主语(谓语通常用单数，有时也用复数)或宾语(主要用作介词 with 的宾语)。如：

We must serve the people heart and soul. 我们必须全心全意地为人民服务。

He plays tennis badly, but with heart and soul. 他的网球打得很糟糕，但打得很投入。

When he plays the piano, his heart and soul is in it. 他弹钢琴时，全神贯注。
