二、具体题目分析 Passage 1: 题目:拯救海枣树 题型:判断题7 + 填空题6 题号:旧题 背景资料相关参考: Date palms are believed to have originated around what is now Iraq, and have been cultivated since ancient times from Mesopotamia to prehistoric Egypt, possibly as early as 4000 BCE. The Ancient Egyptians used the fruits to make date wine, and ate them at harvest. There is archaeological evidence of date cultivation in eastern Arabia in 6000 BCE. (Alvarez-Mon 2006)
Date Palms are susceptible to a disease called Bayoud disease, which is caused by the fungus Fusarium oxysporum. This disease, which kills many of the popular older cultivars like Deglet Noor, has led to a major decline in production where it is present, notably Morocco and western Algeria. However, new cultivars resistant to the disease are being developed.[citation needed] A major palm pest, the red palm beetle (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) currently poses a significant threat to date production in parts of the Middle East as well as to iconic landscape specimens throughout the Mediterranean world.
In the 1920s, eleven healthy Madjool palms were transferred from Morocco to the United States where they were tended by members of the Chemehuevi tribe in a remote region of Nevada. Nine of these survived and in 1935, cultivars were transferred to the US Date Garden in Indio, California. Eventually this stock was reintroduced to Africa and led to the US production of dates in Yuma, Arizona and the Bard Valley in California.

写作 TASK 1 The chart shows amount (in tonnes) of coffee and tea imported to four countries in 2007. Word count: 160 The bar chart illustrates how much coffee and tea was imported to four countries, namely Canada, the UK, USA and Germany in the year of 2007.
It is clear that the UK and the USA showed more preference for tea. To be more specific, the UK imported the most considerable quantity of tea, at 160000, almost eight times as much as the amount of imported coffee. As for the USA, there were less tea imported if it was compared with the UK; however, the figure for the USA was still over that of Germany and Canada.
On the other hand, coffee was more favored in Canada and Germany. The Germans imported 40000 tons of coffee, making it become the country which imported the largest quantity of coffee, while the amount of coffee Canada imported was smaller (40000 tonnes).
Overall, the amounts of imported coffee were comparatively average while the gap between the tea imported in the four countries vary more substantially.
TASK 2 题目类别:观点类 题材类别:教育类 题目: Lectures were used to be a way to teach large number of students, but with the technology available for education, there is no longer justification for lectures. To what extent do you agree or disagree.
参考范文(Word Count: 261) Thanks to the emergency of modern technology, there has been an increasing trend of applying technological methods to teaching, which results in a decreased usage of traditional lectures. Therefore, some people hold the opinion that academic lectures are not justified any long. While, as far as I am concerned, lectures are still of importance even if education could be made by technology nowadays.
It is a fact that technology has contributed to today’s teaching to some extent. With the help of technology, distance is no longer a problem for students to study as they could easily get access to the learning content through the internet wherever they are. Moreover, there is no limitation of room space for giving a class. That is to say, the number of students attending the class will not be fixed any more, an as long as students have the interest to do the certain course, they could get that knowledge.
However, there are also some disadvantages caused by using technology to do educational teaching, and as a result, the significance of traditional lectures should not be neglected. For example, students may not be so concentrated when they sit in front of their laptops and study on their own whereas they could be more study-efficient when they are in the lecture room as there are more alive atmosphere and interactions between the lecturer and students.
In conclusion, although the existence of technology has made contributions to the improvement of education, lectures should still be given justification owing to is irreplaceable role played in raising students’ study efficiency.
口语 一、考试概述: 以下为1月份本场考试话题,请考生们扎实准备。 1. Describe a public place that you think need improvements 2. Describe a country or city where you want to live or work in the future 3. Describe a memorable story told by someone 4. Describe a TV program 5. Describe an important river/area of water in your country 二、具体题目分析: Describe a country or city where you want to live or work in the future You should say: Where the country or city is Why you want to live or work there Who you like to live or work with What you do to achieve your dreams
Speaking of a foreign country I'd like to visit, the first one that comes to my mind is the U.S. It's a huge country in North America and it's literally the first foreign country I've ever heard of in my life. Since I was a kid, my dad began to show me the music videos of Michael Jackson and play Mariah Carey's songs all day. These people's names might sound quite old school but at that time they seemed really cool to me. I guess that was the root of my interest in this country.
And of course, when I become a teenager I began to have passion for Hollywood films and TV series, which are mostly about different people realising their American dreams. So the US has always been giving me this impression that anything could happen in that wonderland.
From the films and my geographic knowledge, there're big cities like LA and New York City which are really modern. On the west coast, you can enjoy the sunshine and have a ride on a yacht. I saw girls riding bikes wearing bikini on the streets of LA, and it was surprising that no one would judge them for anything. It's hard to imagine that happening in China to be honest. Also I've seen people bungee jumping in the Big Canyon on the internet, it just seems so thrilling and totally exciting. LA is definitely the city that I long for the most, because I'm really into water sports and those beaches seem really attractive. I guess that's the main reason why I want to visit the US.
