Abstract:Rapiddevelopmentofcognitiveneurosciencemakesscientistshaveadeepunderstandingabout
humanbrainfunction.Inrecentyears,thedeactivationphenomenoninsomebrainareaswascommonly
observedwhenparticipantswererequiredtoexecuteexternaldemandingtasks,andhencetheconceptof
―DefaultModeNetwork(DMN)‖wasputforward,andhasattractedmoreandmoreattentionfromcognitive
neuroscientists.CurrentreviewmainlyfocusedonthehistoryofDMNresearch,therelevantconceptsand
theories,ontogeneticandphylogeneticdevelopment,thediseasesassociatedwithanditsclinicalapplication.
ItsuggeststhatfuturestudiescomprehensivelyinvestigateDMNfromdevelopmenttrajectory,individual
andspeciesdifferences,therelationshipswithotherbrainnetworks(e.g.,attentionnetwork,visualnetwork,
executivecontrolnetwork),anditsassociationswithdiseases.
