自从第一部《星球大战》（Star War）上映以来，已经过去了40个年头，但其受欢迎的程度仍然不小。在这部系列电影不断受追捧的同时，它也创造了一些只属于这部电影的英语词汇，下面几个估计大家都不陌生吧。

一、Jedi（绝地武士）

【电影台词】

'I am a Jedi, like my father before me.' - Luke Skywalker

the Collins English Dictionary是这么解释Jedi的：

a person who claims to live according to a philosophy based on that of the fictional Jedi, a caste of wizards in the Star Wars series of films by George Lucas.

据说该词的诞生主要是因为导演George Lucas受日本电影的影响较深，尤其是黑泽明（Akira Kurosawa）时代的电影。Jedi一词很有可能是源自日本的時代劇 （jidaigeki），这些电影主要都是有关日本武士的（samurai）。

二、lightsaber（激光剑）

【电影台词】

'This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster. An elegant weapon for a more civilized age.' - Obi-Wan Kenobi

the Collins English Dictionary是这么解释lightsaber的：a fictional energy weapon featured in the Star Wars universe that is over a meter in length consisting of a metal hilt that projects a brightly-lit energy blade.'

Lightsaber一词是由light和saber两个词构成的。saber的含义是“军刀；佩剑”。

三、droid（人形机器人）

【电影台词】

'Wow, you're about as bright as a binary droid.' - Ezra Bridger

droid一词由特效艺术家John Stears创造，意指具有一定人工智能的机器人，它也是卢卡斯电影公司的商标。原美国第二大移动运营商Verizon Wireless曾经为了使用该词还支付了一笔专利使用费！

四、bounty hunter（赏金猎人）

【电影台词】

'Jabba's put a price on your head so large every bounty hunter in the galaxy will be looking for you.' - Greedo

the Collins English Dictionary是这么解释bounty hunter的：

someone who tries to find or kill someone in order to get the reward that has been offered.

电影中的赏金猎人一般是独来独往，但也有可能临时组队猎杀目标。

bounty一词在十三世纪时期用来指代给予骑士的礼物或报酬，到了十七世纪时期就用来指代用于请人击杀或擒获敌人或危险动物的报酬。

bounty hunter一词首次记录出现在1893年，最初的含义主要是指为了食物或作为消遣运动而去猎杀动物的人。

五、Sith（西斯）

【电影台词】

'Once more the Sith will rule the galaxy, and we shall have peace.' - Darth Sidious

Sith（西斯）在电影中主要用来指代试图控制银河系的反派组织，这些人都是天生的武士，一直与绝地武士为敌。

该词有可能源自爱尔兰语中的aes sídhe，意指盖尔神话（Gaelic Mythology）中的神族，性情中不乏邪恶。
