一到假期，脑海中便会浮现出一片壮（keng）丽(die)景象 人人人人人人人人…… 挤挤挤挤挤挤挤挤挤… ↓↓↓  “人山人海”用英语怎么说呢？ 难道是那句著名的 “people mountain people sea”？  No, it’s not “people mountain people sea” - though I really like that Chinglish expression! In English we would just say—— “人山人海”用英语可以这样说—— 01 a huge crowd of people a crowd of 是一个固定搭配，表示“一大群的”，后面通常跟“人”。 比如： a crowd of + people（人）/visitors（游客）/passengers（旅客）/fans（粉丝） 也可以用复数形态的crowds of  crowd前可以加一些形容词，来提升“人多”的程度，比如big, huge, large等（a huge crowd of; huge crowds of）
crowd还可以转化为形容词crowded，或者“overcrowded”，用来形容一个地方特别“拥挤”。 eg： The place is overcrowded today. （这个地方今天人山人海。） 02 a sea of people 人海 就像我们平时说“淹没在人海”，所以形容人非常多，也就是“a sea of people”，也可以说“a sea of faces”。 eg: The square was a sea of people. 广场上人山人海。  a sea of是一个固定搭配，表示“大量的、海量的”。可以修饰其他的名词（可数或不可数都可以），比如：a sea of troubles（大量麻烦）、a sea of information（海量信息） 03 be all packed 挤满 pack表示“挤、塞”， 如果你想表达“人山人海”，就可以借用这个概念，说成 The place was packed with so many people. （这地方人山人海）或者简单一点：The place is all packed.  另外，还有一个俚语： the place is packed like sardines in a tin（这个地方人多的就像罐头里的沙丁鱼） 04 bustle with 充满 一般用来形容有活力的，熙熙攘攘的热闹地方或场面 The passageway of the subway station is bustling with people. 地铁通道里是熙熙攘攘的人流。 05 be flooded with people 人潮 如果一个地方人很多很多，我们是可以用“潮水”进行类比的，说“这个地方被人给淹没了”。 eg: The place is flooded with refugees. 这地方挤满了人。
 06 There is hardly breathing space. 连呼吸的地方都没有了。 eg: The train was so crowded that there was hardly breathing space. 火车里太拥挤了，练呼吸的地方都没有了。 或者还可以说：there’s no room for breathing  07 stuffed tighter than a turkey 塞得比一只火鸡还紧 美国人在感恩节要吃火鸡（turkey），他们通常在火鸡里塞入各种馅料和香料，把火鸡撑得鼓鼓的。
所以一些美国人也会把一个“人山人海”的地方比喻成：（be）stuffed tighter than a turkey（塞得比一只火鸡还紧）stuff在这里是一个动词，表示“填塞”。 #MORE# bumper-to-bumper adj.一辆接一辆的; Hey,the bumper to bumper traffic drives me up the wall. jammed adj.交通 堵塞 to be caught in a traffic jam 被困在交通 堵塞 中 |
