1.要注意同类的事物或同等成分才能比较 wrong:The face of her father looks older than her uncle.(face不能同uncle比较) Right:The face of her father looks older than that of her uncle.(that=face) Right:His father's face looks older than her uncle's(uncle's=uncle's face) 她父亲的面貌看起来比她伯父还老一些。 2.要避免使用双重比较级和最高级 Wrong:His younger brother was more stronger than he.(stronger已是比较 级，前面无须再加more。) Right:His yonger brother was stronger(or much stronger) than he. (去掉多余的more，或将more改成much) 他弟弟比他强壮。 3.使用比较级时，要避免和自身比较 Wrong:Every morning he arrives earlier than any student in the class.(any student 包括he在内) Right:Every morning he arrives earlier than any other student in the class. Right:Every morning he arrives earlier than all other students in the class. (这两句中的any other student和aⅡ other students都不包括he在内。) 每天早晨他都比班上其他同学到得早。 4.使用最高级时，注意不要将比较的东西排除 在整体之外。 Wrong:Mary is the most beautiful of all her sisters.(Mary不在比较范围alI her sisters之内) Right:Mary is the most beautiful of all the sisters.(将her改为the，Mary就没有被排 除在all the sisters之外) 5.两者相比较，一般用比较级，不用最高级 Wrong:He is the most diligent of the two boys. Right:He is the more diligent of the two boys. 他是两个男孩中较用功的一个。 6.要避免不能加以比较的形容词比较 Wrong:The theatre had a more full house. (fuⅡ house本身就意味着客满了，无座了。故full之前不能再加more) Right:The theatre had a full house. 戏院客满。 这类描述性形容词，从理论上说是不能比较的。但在实际生活中，人们并不严格遵循这个规定，比如Perfect就可用比较级和最高级。 This is more perfect than that. 这个比那个更完美。 I have just bought the most perfect hat. 我刚买了一顶最完美的帽子。 7.要注意以or结尾的形容词比较级的用法 Wrong:Peter is junior than Jack in years,but superior than Jack in knowledge. Right:Peter is junior to Jack in years, but superior to Jack in knowledge. 彼得年龄比杰克小，但学识比他渊博。 以or结尾的比较是从拉丁文形容词比较转化过来的，后面不用连词than，而用介词to。 8.要注意冠词在比较等级中的用法。 在as……as及其否定结构中，形容词若作定语修饰可数名词单数时，则不定冠词a/an不能放在形容词之前，只能置其之后。例如: Wrong:I have never seen so a beautiful place as Guilin before. Right:I have never seen so beautiful a place as Guilin before. Wrong:This is just as a good example as the other. Right:This is just as good an example as the other. 这个例子跟别的一样好。 作表语用的形容词最高级，如果不与别的事物相比较，前面常常不加定冠词the。例如: Wrong:The loss of water and soil was the most serious in this area. Right:The loss of water and soil was most serious in this area. 这个地区水土流失严重。 |
