I felt that I had to go to these places, otherwise I’d be missing out. I never wanted to visit the same place twice because I felt that would be a waste of time and money. Well, the older I got and the more travelling I did, I started to realize that a trip’s success is affected by the location, but it’s also about the people you go with and your own personal mindset. So, if you asked me about my ideal vacation several years ago, I probably would have said some exotic location with an activity-filled agenda. Now; however, I’m more about creating a certain ambiance on my trip, regardless of where I go. An ideal trip for me these days will be full of relaxation. Most people my age are loaded with all kinds of stress - stress from work, stress from raising a family, stress from having to take care of our elders – so my top priority is to take my mind off of all these stressors and just loosen up. Usually that includes taking leisurely walks preferably in natural settings, sipping on tea or coffee in a quiet cafe, or having a laid back meal in an outdoor restaurant. I’m not that into sightseeing because I find most tourist attractions to be too crowded. Besides, I personally think the best way to really appreciate a new city is to just do what the locals do. So instead, I will put a lot of effort into finding hole in the wall restaurants, markets, and other places that are most visited by the locals. Some people, especially older folks, might think my travel style is very “wasteful” and perhaps a bit too indulgent. I sleep in. I don’t try to visit 10 different attractions a day. In fact, I often stay away from the recommendations in guide books. But I find this pace and style of travel really suits me and makes for the most ideal type of vacation. 实用词句
