It''s never been easy being a teenager. Who has ever thought of giving troubled teens a chance to speak their mind? Hunan TV finally took action and gave the future leaders of the world a voice. Its latest TV show Shaonianshuo is seemingly hotter than the summer this year. ''Mom, for the rest of my life, I don''t want to have apples or eggs anymore!'' ''Before starting a diet, may I have a meal with lots of meat?'' ''Your own child is as awesome as those in other families. Why can''t you see this?'' ... On the show, some students walk on the ''Courage Stage'' and say whatever they want to say. Their topics range from greetings to parents, best wishes to friends, to personal worries and fears. Their words hit close to home and touch the heartstrings of many of its viewers. ''I used to have little communication with my kid. This show has taught me a good lesson. I think I should have more talks with my kid,'' says one parent. A number of parents recognize these kids'' struggles, which they say also played into their own lives as they found their way in this world. They are thanking the kids for speaking them out for them. Experts speak highly of the TV show, too. At the same time, they emphasize (强调) that most people don''t listen to understand. They just listen to reply. They never really understand what''s going on inside another human being. ---选自《英语周报》2018-2019学年上《初中阅读进阶版》第2期 |
