A pool may not be deep; It’s live where dragons leap. The verse of Yellow Crane Survives the vast domain. Pangu made Earth of yore; Nyuwa fixed Sky with ore. Although Vic Park is small, Its charm does one enthrall. Its micro-macro view Includes all, me and you. The East Hill does blow worth; That fills Heaven and earth. The dew lit by the sun Shines what on land does run. O’er flora and fauna, Birds cheep through aroma. Swallows sing, orioles cry; Doves and butterflies fly. Soil with freshness will With spring hue the park fill. The wind does sway the trees; How fragrant the air is! Birds chirp and insects sing; It’s sort of Heavenly thing. The birds spread wings of love, Like angels from above. The moon does Chang’e please; The sun King Archer sees. On the bridge one looks near, The two shores beaming dear. The lord comes to command This lovely thriving land. The sky blue, the sea blue, From azure comes the hue. Ships below, eagles high, They cruise the sea and sky. Mt. Lion gives men supports; Mt. Peace gives wives resorts. Each household gives off light; The sky’s lit with stars bright. The buildings east and west, A kleidoscope, they’re blessed. With craftsmanship divine, Hongkong’s made a grand sign. Lo, everything is fine; All try to brightly shine. It’s thriving up and down, The whole world’s crown. Those keeping fit, behold, Will live till very old. Sports children do beguile, Who like cute angels smile. When meeting on the way, Hello, cheers, they all say. No class feud or caste hate, No strife at any rate. There they love, girls and boys; Birth-giving gives them joys. Adam and Eve, a pair, Are blessed without compare. One can come here so free, From where’er they may be. All the parks welcome you, No ticket, fee or due. The land enjoys all bliss, Calm and serene like this. A black hole’s in the sun; The park’s no black hole, none. Parks in this or that state, Are the same, small or great. EU countries, twenty eight, Have Vic Park’s greeting gate. Come or go, all are free, Like there’s no boundary. No bloody wars to wage, No nuke lords on the stage. No threat of deaths will sway; No more doomsday, no, nay. Of UN one may dream; Like Vic Park it does seem. It’s like Peach Blossom Land It’s like Eden, so grand. Buddha there seems to be Beneath the bodhi tree. Bodhidarma, as said, Faced the wall a decade. Did Lush a butt’rfly seem? Southerner had a dream. Laocius, when he was young, Strolled the cosmos far-flung. Confucius to the flow Said: Like this, all things go. Man on earth, good at birth, For thousands of years’ mirth. Fraternity’s so cast That it will for e’er last. Like water is Top Good, The state will thrive, it would. With Oracle, divine: Great perfetion will shine. Vic Park’s near, in my view, Built thirty years ago. Her charm pearled or unpearled Benefits the whole world. Our world’s one unified On this side or that side. The Heaven is up there; Hong Kong is here, so fair. Shenghui Yao, an octogenarian, wrote this verse at night when rambling to Fairy-bloom Pavilion in Vic Park. |
