Guanghua Monastery was founded in the second year of Chen Yongding in the Southern Dynasty (558)，it is about 1500 years old. 广化寺创建于南朝陈永定二年(558)；距今约1500年的历史。 Guanghua Monasteryis a famous ancient monastery. In 1990, Guanghua Monastery was listed by the Chinese Buddhist Association as one of the the top three model monasteries in the country. 广化寺是著名的千年古刹。1990年， 广化寺被中国佛教协会列为全国三大模范丛林之榜首。 Guanghua Monastery covers an area of 32,000 square meters and a construction area of over 17,000 square meters. 广化寺占地3.2万余平方米，建筑面积1、7万多平方米。 The central axis is 385-meter long, with screen walls, arches, front gate, life-freeing pond, the Hall of Heavenly Kings(Maitreya Buddha Hall), the Main Shrine Hall, Dharma Hall(the Tripitaka Sutra Pavilion upstairs),Reclining Buddha Hall (theancestral hall below), etc. The full length is 385 meters and the main body is prominent and magnificent. Among them, the Sakyamuni pagoda, the forged clock,and the Hall for 500 Arhats are known as the “three treasures” of Guanghua Monastery. 中轴线长达385米，分布有照壁、牌坊、山门、放生池、天王殿(弥勒殿)、大雄宝殿、法堂(上为藏经阁)、卧佛殿(下为祖堂)等，全长385公尺，主体突出，巍然壮观。其中释迦文佛塔、锻造钟、500罗汉堂被誉为广化寺“三宝”。 Built on a 2.7-meter-high abutment, the MainShrine Hall is 22-meter high and 837 square meters in area. It is majestic and solemn, and is the top of Fujian's famous monasteries. 大雄宝殿建在高2.7米的基台上，高22米，面积837平方米，雄伟庄严，为福建诸名刹之冠。 Fujian Buddhist Collegeis now located in Nanshan Guanghua Monastery.Guanghua Monastery sits facing the east, and the building is a large monastery composed of hallgroups, courtyards, pavilions and corridors. After the restoration in 1980 and the expansion of the Fayuan Building last year, the total area is about 50,000square meters. 南山广化寺内现设有福建佛学院。广化寺坐西朝东，建筑上是以殿群、院落、楼阁、庑廊组成的一座大丛林。经过1980年的修复和去年法缘楼的扩建，总面积约5万多平方米。 From 1993 to 1999,two new double-storey buildings, Yunshuitang and Fengyuequ, were built. After the reconstruction of Guanghua Monastery, the pattern of the monastery is more majestic and classical. 1993至1999年又新建了云水堂、风月趣两座双层建筑。重建后的广化寺，寺宇格局显得更雄伟、古朴。 图/文/英文小组
