基地坐落于嘉兴市南湖区同济大学浙江学院内，地处城市副中心辐射带，交通便利、人文荟萃、环境优美。基地在原有校园规划中为国际交流中心，位于学校北面的岛上，周边被河水环绕。功能被定义为具有接待、会议、餐饮、健身理疗、办公、住房等的高端会所区和住宅区。该方案综合并最大化利用了场地的地形特征和建筑本身的功能特点。我们运用中国传统的“汀步”形态作为设计的出发点，将建筑体量打散后再连接，并且在外部设置连续步道。在保证内部功能的良好衔接的同时，最大化了每个功能部分的采光、通风和景观，更创造出了如园林般亦断亦连的精彩内部空间和外部院落；外部形象上，建筑群小巧轻灵的功能块被一个连续、起伏的屋顶统一，表达出如群山般低调雄厚而又丰富多变的气质。
The project is located in Tongji University Zhejiang College, Jiaxing. The site is on an island in the north side of campus. The design applies the idea of traditional Chinese “stepping stones” as the morphological start point. A series of seemlying hinged cubes are spatialy connected to each other, with ramps that surround. This overall form creates an ambiguity that is concurrently continuous and discontinuous between the programmed zones. The four unique courtyards are either closed or semi-open to the surrounding environment, providing natural daylight, campus views and fresh ventilation. The volumes are covered by a continuous and fluctuant roof, which expresses a sense of mountain-like steadiness.
