While：高分雅思英语作文中必备的连接词。不是“当..的时候”

虽然英语连接词while有很多含义，但大部分学生只是在表达“当...的时候”，才使用while。

但在雅思英语写作中，while最常用的含义却是另外2个含义。

1. while = although，多用于表达观点。
2. while = but，多用于比较不同点。

while = although, 表达观点

Most people have forgotten the meaning behind traditional or religious festivals; during festival periods, people nowadays only want to enjoy themselves. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

大部分人忘记了传统或宗教节日背后的意义。在节日期间，人们现在只希望自己玩的开心。你同意，还是不同意这一观点？

针对上述的雅思写作真题，我们可以使用while引出如下观点：

While I agree that enjoyment seems to be the priority（优先权） during festival times, I do not agree that people have forgotten what these festivals mean.

虽然我同意在节假日期间，玩的开心已成为人们的首要追求，但我并不认为人们已经忘记了节日背后的意义。

while = but, 表示比较

In 2010, 73% of mobile phone owners used their phones to search the Internet, while 41% of users played games and only 26% of people played music on their phones.

2010年，73%的手机用户使用手机上网搜索，而只有41%的用户玩游戏，26%的人听音乐。

从上面的例子可以看出，while在雅思大作文中用于表达观点，在小作文中用于比较不同的数据。
