克劳德·莫奈（Claude Monet，1840年11月14日－1926年12月5日），法国画家，被誉为“印象派领导者”，是印象派代表人物和创始人之一。莫奈是法国最重要的画家之一，印象派的理论和实践大部分都有他的推广。莫奈擅长光与影的实验与表现技法。他最重要的风格是改变了阴影和轮廓线的画法，在莫奈的画作中看不到非常明确的阴影，也看不到突显或平涂式的轮廓线。光和影的色彩描绘是莫奈绘画的最大特色。 2019年5月14日，法国印象派画家克劳德·莫奈的作品《干草堆》在纽约苏富比拍卖行以破纪录的1.107亿美元（1美元约合人民币6.87元）高价拍出。这是莫奈作品拍卖价格的最高纪录，也是印象派画作拍卖最高纪录。 1874年，莫奈参加了第一次印象派展览，展出了自己的作品《日出·印象》，这幅画描绘的是法国勒阿弗尔港清晨的风景，太阳刚刚升起，水面雾气朦胧。由于画的是光线短暂变化的瞬间，于是受到学院派的嘲笑，说《日出·印象》完全就是凭印象胡乱画出来的，印象派由此得名。 《印象·日出》 视觉观察方面无疑是一个富有创造性的天才。他善于从光与色的相互关系中发现前人从未发现的某种现象。他把全部注意力都集中在光与色上，从而找到了最适于表达光与色的明度差别变化的形式，他把这种光色明度差别变化从绘画的各种其他因素中抽象出来，把它提到了不可攀登的高度。 Grainstack at Giverny, 1889 莫奈的视觉观察是天才的、创造性的、非凡的，可是在这种观察的背后又是什么呢？他所看见的东西同他所感觉和他所想象的东西之间关系又是如何的呢？莫奈在1874－1878年间在阿尔让特依所画的一些画可以回答这些问题。如创作于1872年的“阿尔让特依的帆船”。 《草垛》 在这幅图里中间调子代替了色彩对比，但不是借了色彩的混合，而是通过形成一种光的综合作用的色彩分解或组合。黑色已不再出现于画家的调色板，剩下的只是造成明与暗的光谱色彩，它们形成了形的实体。统一的色彩风格很自然地遍及整个画面：远景和近景，物体、水和天空，把这一切改造成为一种美妙动人的景象，而浑然一片、不分层次的空间透视，则把这远景和近景联成一个整体。紫色和黄色的调子同河水和天空的蔚蓝色交织在一起，这些颜色的调子差别把这些自然现象区分得清清楚楚，而且平静如镜的河面，仿佛就成了天穹的基础。几何学的透视已被忘却；它已让空气的不断运动代替了。每一种颜色单独看来十分柔和，它们的整体却又是强烈的；出现在我们面前的是天边焰火弥漫，白昼即将消逝的图景，一条大帆船静静地停在一片灰色的半阴影之中。这是一个幻想家的直观，在这烟雾缭绕、夕阳西下、一片忧郁的气氛之中，莫奈仿佛就是那光的生命，直接参与着它的逐渐熄灭。这是莫奈创作中的丰收时期，是他创作了色彩的传奇。 下面是莫奈的“系列”作品之一《草垛》：（可以闭上一只眼睛看） Grainstack at Sunset, 1891 Grainstack in Overcast Weather, Snow Effect, 1891 Grainstack at Sunset, Winter, 1890-91 Grainstack, Thaw, Sunset, 1891 Grainstack under the Sun, 1891 Grainstack, 1891 01

《草地上的午餐》 他说“我作画犹如鸟儿在唱歌。”他的风景画如同音乐一样，有着明快、抒情的色彩。他醉心于捕捉大自然的光与色的变化。
