Blame

我们都知道Blame的意思是责备、责怪，但它的具体正确的用法，却被大家忽视。而这也正是高考的一大考点。

Blame既可作动词，也可作名词。

I 动词

1 及物动词：责备；责怪；归咎于； to say or think that someone or something did something wrong or is responsible for something bad happening；

例句：

John blames his mother for his lack of confidence.

约翰把自己缺乏自信心归咎于他的母亲。

John blames his lack of confidence on his mother.

约翰把自己缺乏自信心归咎于他的母亲。

注意：“因为某事而责备某人”和“把某事的责任归咎于某人”的区别，英文中最直接的就是blame这个及物动词后的宾语。看宾语到底是“人”还是“物，结果等”。

2 be to blame：是…的原因。to be the reason for something that happens；

例句：

The hot weather is partly to blame for the water shortage.

炎热的天气是缺水的原因之一。

注意：这个管用词组的主语是“原因”。

II Blame 不可数名词；

1 责备；怪罪；归咎。

例句：

Health officials put the blame for the disease on (= say that the reason for the disease is) poor housingconditions.

卫生官员们将该疾病的暴发归咎于恶劣的住房条件。

2 take the blame：引咎；对…负责。

If anything goes wrong, I'll take the blame.

出了问题我负责。
