In a harvest season, a beekeeper（养蜂人） tried making honey. He had no knowledge of skills, so he consulted his father.

丰收的季节，一个养蜂人试酿蜂蜜。他不懂酿蜜技术，于是向父亲咨询。

The retired, old beekeeper told his son, “It's okay to make it in the common method. However, on the point of completing it, remember to drop a little bitter medicine into the honey.”

退休的老养蜂人告诉儿子：“酿造过程用平常方法就行，可是，酿成之时记得往蜂蜜里滴一点儿苦药。”

On hearing this, he objected, “Why so? It is simply to ruin the precious honey.”

儿子一听，不同意了。他说：“这是为什么？珍贵的蜂蜜不就全毁了吗？”

His father just smiled without reply. Upon this（于是）, he made honey as he liked. Until the honey was done, he took a bit to taste. But his honey was not as sweet as his father's.

只见父亲笑而不答。 于是，儿子自顾自地酿了蜜。酿好的时候，他取了一点儿蜜，尝了起来。他酿的蜜果然没有父亲的甜。

He was so confused that he had to ask his father. “Excuse me, why did you ask me to add bitter medicine to the done honey? Won't it ruin the taste of the honey?”

儿子困惑极了，就去问父亲： “爸爸，当初您为什么让我在酿好的蜂蜜里加苦药呢？那样不会破坏蜂蜜的味道吗？”

“It is the little bitterness in the honey that excites your tongue and makes the honey sweet.”

“正是那一丝苦味刺激你的味蕾，吃蜜才会感到甘甜。”
