Monteith, a bowl used to cool wine glasses in ice water. Named after Earl Monteith in the 17th century. Usually it has a notch on the edge to hang the glass handle. It is a customary term for British silverware. Can also be translated as "glass cooler". The first Monteith discovered in Britain was made in 1680.
