If someone or something is basic, it's uninteresting, uncool, boring or very mainstream（主流）. 

This slang term（俚语） is usually referring to someone who will wear or do anything popular, not because they like it but because everyone else is doing it.

If someone calls someone basic it means that you are lacking originality（创造力）. Which means there's nothing unique about you. 

If someone calls an event basic it means that it is super boring or mainstream. It means everyone goes to it, just to go to it.
