形容词和副词比较级和最高级主要用于事物之间的相互比较。常用结构如下：

夏天南方比北方炎热。

This dress is more expensive than that one.

这条裙子比那条贵。

Lily sings English songs better than I.

莉莉唱英语歌比我好。

Tom can work out hard problems more quickly than Ben.

汤姆解难题比本快。

“the+形容词比较级+of the two+名词”特指比较二者中的一方。比如：

She is the better of the two singers.

她是两个歌手中唱得较好的一个。

I’ll take the less expensive of the two cameras.

两架照相机中我买较便宜的哪一架。

This is the harder of the two exams.

这是两场考试中比较难的一场。
