状语从句

在主从复合句中，用作状语的从句称为状语从句。常用状语从句有以下七种类型：

1.时间状语从句

表示时间的状语从句连接词通常用：

（1）when当…，as soon as 一…就… 表示某一时间发生的动作，从句谓语动词通常用一般现在时或者一般过去时。例如：

When he comes, I will give him the message.

当他来的时候，我将把这个信捎给他。

As soon as I receive his letter,I’ll let you know.

我一收到他的信，我就告诉你。

When she opened the bag, she found a note in it.

当她打开包，她发现里面有张条子。

As soon as I sat down, the waiter brought me a cup of tea.

我一坐下，服务员就给我端来一杯荼。

如果强调过去发生的两个动作有先后关系，从句谓语动词可以用过去完成时。例如：

When he (had) finished the exam paper, he handed it it.

他做完试卷后交了上去。

Assoon as they (had) returned from London, they drove to see their sick aunt.

他们一从伦敦回来，就开车去看望他们患病的姨妈。
