37. by comparison with与……比较

用法：by comparison with后面加上表示对比事物，与in comparison with同义，都是“和……相比”的意思。

例句：China has a lot of traditional cultures by comparison with western countries.

与西文国家相比，中国有很多传统文化。

38. by means of用，依靠

用法：by means of后面要跟表示方法、途径的名词或者名词词组。

例句：Young people are more likely to solve problems by means of violence.

年青人更倾向于用暴力解决问题。

39. by the end of直到……为止

用法：by the end of在句中作时间状语，常跟完成时态连用。

例句：By the end of 1992, he lost his company, his career and his house.  (2015年6月四级)

直到1992年底，他失去了他的公司、事业和房子。

40. by the name of名为，称为

用法：by the name of后面要跟表示名词字的名词或者名词词组，注意与in the name of的区别，后者表示“以……的名义”。

例句：The band by the name of Sun is fading.

那个名叫太阳的乐队渐渐没落了。
