She gave Booth supplies补给 to help in his escape. Sam Arnold thought they were going to kidnap绑架 the President. When he found out it was to be a killing, he backed out of the gang. Michael O'Laughlin helped make the assassination plans. Ned Spangler was a stagehand (舞台工作人员）at Ford's Theater. He held a horse ready in an alley小巷 for Booth. He was not a part of the gang. Booth died from a gunshot when he refused to surrender投降. The others were all arrested and put on trial. Paine, Herold, Atzerodt, and Surratt were hanged on July 7, 1865. Spangler was sentenced to six years in prison for helping Booth's escape. The others were sentenced to life. 0’Laughlin died in prison in 1867.
