今天仍然没有ROLL CALL，而且我看这架势好像本周内都不会有了。难道CNN做出这样重大的改版（ROLL CALL去掉了）竟然也不通知任何人？这实在是有点过了……

不过没关系，before we go总还是有的。今天的这个部分特别长，说的是沙雕家的故事，sand sculptors。在访谈中有一位雕塑家说：

It is a hobby turned into a passion, turned into a profession.

这是由爱好转为激情，转而成为一种职业。

注意passion和profession的最后一个音节读音是相同的，倒数第二音节听起来是相似的。这叫“押韵”，英语中称为“rhyme”。Rhyme既是名词又是不及物动词。要把rhyme 押韵和rhythm 节奏区别开，有一首著名的英文歌曲Rhythm of the Rain，雨的节奏，不错的，大家不妨听听看。

最后主持人说：

So, sand sculpting certainly seems to depend on how things shape up. Whether they make waves, whether the end result holds water and whether the artist is willing to watch it all wash away, it’s surely someone whose skills go against the grain.

所以，沙雕看来总是要取决于各种东西怎样成型。不管是否形成波浪，最终成品有没有水分，艺术家愿不愿意看着作品被水全给冲走，沙雕这东西肯定是有着不同凡响技能的。

这里的点在哪里呢？首先，go against the grain是一个习惯说法，指的是“不同凡响/格格不入”，这里解释为前者；其次，既然是沙雕，肯定是与沙子打交道，同沙粒（grains of sand）作战（go against），故有这个说法。
