【原】英语中不用定冠词的情况

一、不用定冠词+国家名，除非名字里含有republic、kingdom、states 或名字是复数形式，例如：

Germany is an important economic power.

德国是一个重要的经济大国。

He's just returned from Zimbabwe.

他刚从津巴布韦回来。

二、不用定冠词+语言名，例如：

French is spoken in Tahiti.

大溪地讲法语。

English uses many words of Latin origin.

英语中使用了许多源于拉丁语的单词。

Indonesian is a relatively new language.

印尼语是一种相对较新的语言。

三、不用定冠词+餐名，例如：

Lunch is my favorite meal.

午餐是我最喜欢的一餐。

I like to eat breakfast early.

我喜欢早点吃早餐。

四、不用定冠词+人名，例如：

John is coming over later.

约翰一会儿过来。

Mary Carpenter is my boss.

玛丽·卡彭特是我的老板。

五、不用定冠词+与名字组合的称谓，例如：

Prince Charles is Queen Elizabeth's son.

查尔斯王子是伊丽莎白女王的儿子。

President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas.

肯尼迪总统在达拉斯遇刺身亡。

六、定冠词不能跟在名词所有格 's 后面，例如：

His brother's car was stolen.

Peter's house is over there.

七、不用定冠词+职业名，例如：

Engineering is a well-paid career.

工程师是一门高薪的职业。

He'll probably study medicine.

八、不用定冠词+商店名，例如：

I'll get the card at Smith's.

九、不用定冠词+年份，例如：

1948 was a wonderful year.

He was born in 1995.

十、不用定冠词+不可数名词，例如：
