The first glance inside the Hogwarts was astonishing. The entrance hall was big; the celling was extremely high; the torches were flaming bright; the staircase was magnificent, but the first years were lead into a small chamber. They were not only left waited in anxiety for sorting, but scared by “friendly” ghosts. Sorting ceremony was neither a test nor hurt. It was merely a hat, but a smart hat. It was judgmatical, sometime it shouted out the house at once, and sometime it spent a while. What is funny was the hat seemed unwilling to touch Malfoy. Harry’s school was decided by himself – “not Slytherin”. Until now, all our heroes and heroines were ready at their places, so it was banquet time! Be honest, I really hope I had this kind of magic – the plates and food can appear and disappear automatically. If so, I would not need to cook or clean up. Ah! It’s too good to imagine though! There were many foods but the only one I wanted to taste was peppermint humbugs. We also saw the other side of Dumbledore. He was a little bit naughty, a little bit mad. Especially, the school song in Dumbledore-style could make every teacher’s face be full of black lines. An important “bad guy” came onto the stage as well, all-in-black and evil-looking! Through him we would understand “judge by your heart not by your eyes”, but it is later story. As my own experience, you shouldn’t eat too much at supper, unless you don’t like a peaceful sleep. You see, the similar thing happened to Harry, that strange dream was quite annoying. Is it an omen? 想想欧洲曾经的历史，想想西方的恐怖故事，这部小说真是在孩子中颠覆那些传统中的恐惧啊！普通的人类被轻蔑的称为muggle；穿着斗篷的巫师和女巫，分别是学校的校长和老师；好多人都害怕的黑猫，其实是教授； 能飞的笤帚和晚上活动的猫头鹰，不再是不祥的现象，而是流行的交通魔法工具和通讯工具；恐怖的旧城堡、忽闪忽闪的蜡烛，这些可怕的意向都变成了孩子们最熟悉的学校环境；最可怕的幽灵和鬼魂都变成了学校里常见的滑稽的存在…… 将恐惧的意向描写的有血有肉人格化可理解，简直是破除孩子们恐惧的最好办法。 小Harry因为一岁时的经历，总有一些奇怪的感受，这些又因为第一面看上去就不喜欢他的Snape教授和一些影影绰绰的传言被加深，我想如果真有Harry这样成长起来的孩子，应该很会看人的脸色，而且的的确确会被严肃不开心的成年人吓到吧。 A very special ceremony would take place. All the first year students would be sorted into their houses by a crazy hat. After knowing that they had just got to try on the hat instead of wrestling a monster, Ron felt relax. But Harry was still nervous. It was not easy to show his naive in front of the rest of the school. The sorting hat reminded him of unpleasant things in the past. It was really a long time to wait. Most of students had been sorted into four houses. Once someone new joined in a house, the table from that house would cheered and clapped, even the ghosts would show their excitement. Finally, it was Harry’s turn. He was really brave to express himself rather than accepting fate. Welcome to Gryffindor, Harry! 这一章的最亮点就是分院帽了，分院帽也是个神奇的东西，有的一下子就能喊出这个人应该去的学院，有的却要思考一会，哈利此时的胆子还是比较小的，因为一切都是陌生的，崭新的，信息对他来说也基本是未知的，残碎零星知道一点点而已，所以他是犹豫的。 分院帽在他头上的时候，分院帽也给他两个选择，格兰芬多和斯莱特林，但是斯莱特林是伏地魔和他讨厌的同学马尔福的学院，所以他努力的想，不去斯莱特林，因此就进到了格兰芬多。 在此时，格兰芬多需要的勇敢，豪爽等等一系列特质，哈利作为小孩子还没有体现出来。 不过后文马上就开始描述起来，老师在上面讲规矩，哈利因此哈哈大笑起来，只有几个，全场大部分人都不敢笑，他却敢。但凡威慑于老师的人，谁不“懂规矩”压抑着自己呢？你瞧，胆子够大。 格兰芬多需要的勇气并不是一直勇敢，我觉得作为一个儿童作品，宣扬勇敢并不过分，但是难得的是它表达的是你可以一直很懦弱，胆怯，但是在关键的时候，你要勇敢的站出来，站在对的一面。 一年级新生们终于到达了富丽堂皇的Hogwarts城堡，除了领路人Hagrid, 他们见到了McG.教授，然后依次开始了各项 the-start-of-term ceremony:
Harry, Hermione, Ron and Neville were all Gryffindors, which they would earn triumphs for or vice versa.(不知道Slytherin连续六年获得冠军的记录是否可以终结，应该可以吧，因为有Harry了)
终于知道共读刚开始分院测试的来历了，只不过魔法世界是通过一只神奇的帽子来分院的，在这只分院帽的歌声中我们了解到了每个学院的特点和优势，也看到分院的逻辑，对于我们看客来说真的是趣味十足。 可是对于Harry来说，想的确实I will be in big trouble. 看着其他新生一个个被分配到不同的学院，Harry鸭力山大，但是没想到thinking hat在纠结之中还是善解人意的把Harry分到了他心心念念的GRYFFINDOR。
这么多佳肴简直就是了解腐国美食的绝好机会（虽然听说腐国没啥美食），其中roast beef配Yorkshire pudding可是英国全国在星期天午餐都会吃的传统菜。
魔法世界的大门终于开始露出它的真容了。
分院帽对Slytherin很有偏见啊those cunning folk use any means这评价明显的很不友好嘛，蛇院明明连续六年赢得House Cup了啊喂。
