Michael Joseph  Jackson(August  29,  1958  –  June  25,  2009)  was  an  American singer,  songwriter,  and  dancer.  Dubbed the  "King  of  Pop”,  he  was  one  of  the  most  popular entertainers  in  the  world,  and  was  the  best-selling  music  artist  at  the  time  of  his  death.Jackson's  contributions to  music,  dance, and  fashion  along  with  his  publicized  personal life  made  him  a  global figure  in  popular culture  for  over  four  decades.

The eighth  child  of  the  Jackson family,  Michael  made  his  professional debut  in  1964  with  his  elder  brothers Jackie,  Tito,  Jermaine, and  Marlon  as  a  member of  the  Jackson 5.  He  began  his  solo  career  in  1971  while  at  Motown Records.

Michael Jackson's  final  #1  pop  hit  single  was  written  by  R&B  singer R.  Kelly.  It  became  the  first  song  in  the  history  of  the  Billboard Hot  100  to  debut  at  #1.  It  was  Michael Jackson's  second  single from  the  compilation album  HIStory:  Past,  Present,  and  Future  Book  1.  The  song  hit  #1  across pop,  adult  contemporary, and  adult  pop  charts  as  well  as  going  to  #1  in  the  UK.  "You  Are  Not  Alone" earned  a  Grammy Award  nomination  for  Best  Male  Pop  Vocal. Both  R.  Kelly  and  Diana  Ross  have  recorded  cover  versions  of  "You  Are  Not  Alone.”
