In Britain, dozens of Conservative MPs backed an amendment to a bill that would end the involvement of Huawei, a Chinese maker of telecoms equipment, in the country's 5G networks, on the grounds of national security. The amendment was defeated, but it was the first Tory rebellion against Boris Johnson's government. 

在英国，数十名保守党议员支持一项法案修正案，该修正案以维护国家安全为理由，不让中国电信设备制造商华为参与该国5G网络建设。该修正案被否决了，但这是保守党首次反对鲍里斯·约翰逊政府。

结构分析：

第一句：In Britain是地点状语，dozens of Conservative MPs是主语，backed是谓语，an amendment to a bill是宾语（to a bill是后置定语）， that引导定语从句，在从句中作主语，would end是谓语， the involvement of Huawei是宾语, a Chinese maker of telecoms equipment是同位语,in the country's 5G networks是状语,on the grounds of national security是状语。

第二句：The amendment是主语，was defeated是被动谓语，but表示转折的连接词，it是主瓖，was是系动词，the first Tory rebellion against Boris Johnson's government是表语，

词汇解读：

1. amendment /əˈmendmənt/ n.(宪法的)修正案

例句：Parliament gained certain rights of amendment.

议会得到一定的修正权利。

2.rebellion/rɪˈbeljən/ n.不服从，叛乱

例句：The British soon put down the rebellion.

英国人很快平息了叛乱。
