Beat, hit, strike

Beat(vt.)打，打一顿 通常指连续地打，是有意的行为。例如：

They have beaten the enemy black and blue.他们把敌人打得焦头烂额。

Why do you beat the dog? 你为什么打狗呢？

Hit(vt.)打 和strike同义，但不如strike正式。Hit和strike常可通用，但侧重于打中、击中之意时，多用hit，通常指有意识的行为，有时也指无意识的行为，如碰撞。例如：

He punished him by hitting him hard.他狠狠地揍了他一顿以惩罚他。

He hit the man on the head.他打了一下那人的头。

He hit his head against the door in dark.在黑暗中他把头撞在门上了。

Strike(vt.)打，敲 普通用语，但比hit略为正式，通常表示打一下，打若干下等意思，往往指有意识的行为，也可指无意识的行为。例如：

She struck (hit) him out of anger.她生气地打了他一下。

He was struck dead by lightning.他被雷击死了。

Bells don't ring till you strike them.铃不敲不响。

注意：涉及到人体某个部位时，往往用介词+定冠词引出被打的部位，一般不用物主代词。例如：

He hit the man on the nose (shoulder, back).他打在那人鼻子（肩膀、背）上。
