吉米老师前言:最近,读到一本书《活下去的理由》,被深深打动。在全书的最后部分,作者马特给抑郁症患者写下了“如何活下去”的40条建议,今天分享其中30条给大家。

作者马特·海格(Matt Haig),英国作家,24岁抑郁症首次发作,通过写作踏上自我救赎之路。他的作品总共被译为29种语言,曾荣获一大堆奖项。

1.    快乐出现的时候,享受快乐。

Appreciate happiness when it is there.

2.小口慢饮,别狼吞虎咽。

Sip, don’t gulp.

3. 对自己温柔些。少工作,多休息。

Be gentle with yourself. Work less. Sleep more.

4. 过去的一切你都无法改变。这是基本的物理原理。

There is absolutely nothing in the past that you can change. That’sbasic physics.

5. 小心星期二和十月。

Beware of Tuesdays. And Octobers.

6. 库尔特·冯内古特是正确的:“阅读和写作是迄今为止人类发现的最有营养的冥想形式。”

Kurt Vonnegut was right. ‘Reading and writing are the mostnourishing forms of meditation anyone has so far found.’

7. 多倾听,少说话。

 Listen more than you talk.

Don’t feel guilty about being idle. More harm is probably done tothe world through work than idleness. But perfect your idleness. Make itmindful.

Be aware that you are breathing.

10. 不论在任何地点,任何时刻,都要试着去发现美。一张面孔、一句诗词、窗外的云、涂鸦画、风力田。美可以净化思想。

Wherever you are,at any moment, try and find something beautiful. Aface, a line out of a poem,the clouds out of a window, some graffiti, a windfarm. Beauty cleans the mind.

Hate is apointless emotion to have inside you. It is like eating ascorpion to punish it for stinging you.

 Go for a run. Then do some yoga.

Shower before noon.

14. 遥望天空。提醒自己宇宙是多么浩瀚。抓住每一个感受辽阔悠远的机会,这会让你看见自己的渺小。

Look at the sky. Remind yourself of the cosmos. Seek out vastnessat every opportunity, in order to see the smallness of yourself.

15. 善良。

Bekind.

16. 要认识到想法只是想法。如果感觉想法不合理,就跟它理论,即使你已找不出道理。你是你头脑的观察者,而非受害者。

Understand that thoughts are thoughts. If they are unreasonable,reason with them, even if you have no reason left. You are the observer of yourmind, not its victim.

17. 不要漫无目的地看电视。不要漫无目的地上社交网站。要清醒地意识到你正在做什么,为什么而做。别不重视电视,你要更重视它,这样你才会少看。无节制的娱乐将使你注意力分散。

Do not watch TV aimlessly. Do not go on social media aimlessly.Always be aware of what you are doing, and why you are doing it. Don’t value TVless. Value it more. Then you will watch it less. Unchecked distractions willlead you to distraction.

Sit down. Lie down. Be still. Do nothing. Observe. Listen to yourmind. Let it do what itdoes without judging it. Let it go, like the Snow Queenin Frozen.

19. 不要杞人忧天。

(Don’tworry about things that probably won’t happen.)

20. 看树,靠近树,种树。因为树很棒。

 Look at trees. Benear trees. Plant trees. Trees are great.

21. 听YouTube 上面那个瑜伽教练的话,“走路,好像你在用脚亲吻地球一样。”

Listen to thatyoga instructor on YouTube, and ‘walk as if you are kissing the Earth withyourfeet’.

22. 生活,爱,放手。

(Live, Love, Letgo.)

23. 酒的数学是乘方运算。你喝得越多,就越想多喝。如果你很难止于一杯,那么更不可能止于三杯。加法就是乘法。

Alcohol maths.Wine multiplies itself by itself. The more you have,the more you are likely to have. And if it’s hard to stop at one glass, it willbe impossible at three.Addition is multiplication.

24. 当心那个缝隙。你现在身处的地方和你想去的地方之间的缝隙。只是想一下它,那个缝隙就会扩大,你就有可能掉到里面去。

Beware of the gap.The gap between where you are and where you wantto be. Simply thinking of the gap widens it. And you end up falling through.

(Read a book without thinking about finishing it. Just read it.Enjoy every word, sentence,and paragraph. Don’t wish for it to end, or for itto never end.)

26. 在最深层次,宇宙中没有哪种药比善待他人令你感觉更好。

No drug in the universe will make you feel better, at the deepestlevel, than being kind to other people.

27. 听听哈姆雷特——文学作品中最著名的抑郁症患者——对罗森克兰茨和吉尔登斯特恩说的话:“世上之事物本无善恶之分,思想使然。”

Listen to what Hamlet – literature’s most famous depressive – toldRosencrantz andGuildenstern. ‘There is nothing either good or bad, but thinkingmakes it so.’

28. 允许他人爱你。相信这份爱。为他们活下去,即使你觉得毫无意义。

If someone loves you, let them. Believe in that love. Live for them,even when you feel there is no point.

29. 你不需要这个世界理解你。没关系的。有的人永远不会真的理解他们没经历过的事情,但有些人会理解,要对理解你的人心怀感激。

You don’t need theworld to understand you. It’s fine. Some peoplewill never really understandthings they haven’t experienced. Some will. Begrateful.

Jules Verne wroteof the ‘Living Infinite’. This is the world of loveand emotion that is like a‘sea’. If we can submerge ourselves in it, we findinfinity in ourselves, andthe space we need to survive.
