Dear students,

In some parts of our country, there are many children out of school because their families can't afford to send them to school. At the same time, children don't have enough money to buy school things and clothes. In my opinion, each child should have the right to go to school, but there are few chances for them. So we should try our best to do something to help them, like giving them school things, clothes and so on. We believe that if we work together, we can make a better future for them.

1. afford = = to be able to buy or do something because you have enough money  v. 能够支付

e.g. I don't know  how he can afford a new car on his salary.

真不知道以他的工资怎么买得起一辆新车。

e.g.We can't afford another trip abroad this year. 

今年我们承担不起再一次出国旅行了。

2. make是一个很简单的词，好记也好用，这样的小词往往有大用处，今天我们先接触make的3个含义，大家要牢牢掌握哦~

make = to produce something, often using a particular substance or material      v. 制作

e.g. Do you want me to make some coffee？
 你想要我为你做一杯咖啡吗？

e.g. She makes all her own clothes. 
她所有的衣服都是自己制作的。

make = to cause something  v. 导致

e.g.The kids made a real mess in the kitchen.
 孩子们把厨房搞得一团糟。

e.g. What made you change your mind?
 什么使你改变了主意？

make = to cause to be, to become, or to appear as v. 使变成，使得

e.g. I can make myself understood in French, but I'm not fluent.
 我能努力听懂法语，但是不能流利使用。
