Using pure pigment, resin, and marble powder, he fills his canvases with hues reminiscent of places he’s traveled and moments in time, in shapes both familiar and blurrily abstract.In paintings of heavily wooded forests, dusk light lingers in thick, humid air. In some scenes, carnival rides rise over the treetops—one can almost hear the tinny tinkling of circus tunes. Occasionally people fly above the earth, hovering like gulls caught in the wind, as though traveling slowly through a dream. On lunar surfaces, people leap and break-dance, dogs bound, and two young men in bathing suits carry an inflatable boat to some unseen body of water.
