Lesson 27 Mrs. Smith’s living room

Mrs. Smith’s living room is large.

There is a television in the room.

The television is near the window.

There are some magazines on the television.

There is a table in the room.

There are some newspapers on the table.

There are some armchairs in the room.

The armchairs are near the table.

There is a stereo in the room.

The stereo is near the door.

There are some books on the stereo.

There are some pictures in the room.

The pictures are on the wall.

二、每课一句

There are some magazines on the television.

本课继第25-26课之后，将继续学习英语中常用的句型：There be句型。其基本用法为：

There be+人或物+地点

该句型表示：

在某地有某人或某物

其中，be动词的单复数按照就近原则来变化，即be的单复数由它后面离它最近的名词的单复数来决定。

本课侧重的是be作为复数的的用法，即：

There are+复数可数名词+地点

如：

There are five books on the desk.

【注意】

如果There be后面接的是不可数名词，但这个不可数名词前面有表量的名词，且该表量的名词是复数的，那么There be中的be也要用复数形式are。如：

There are two bottles water on the table.

本课继第25-26课学习了“Where is it?”之后，继续学习的是当主语为复数名词时的用法，即：

Where are they?

如：

There are some shoes on the floor.

如果要提问上句中表地点的“on the floor”的话，其问句应该是：

Where are there any shoes?
