Lesson 81 Roast beef and potatoes

Hi, Carol! Where’s Tom?

He’s upstairs. He’s having a bath.

Tom!

Yes?

Sam’s here.

I’m nearly ready.

Hello, Sam. Have a cigarette.

No, thanks, Tom.

Have a glass of whisky then.

OK. Thanks.

Is dinner ready, Carol?

It’s nearly ready. We can have dinner at seven o’clock.

Sam and I had lunch together today. We went to a restaurant.

What did you have?

We had roast beef and potatoes.

Oh!

What’s the matter, Carol?

Well, you’re going to have roast beef and potatoes again tonight!

二、每课一句

Have a glass of whisky then.

本课侧重复习动词实义动词have表“吃喝”的用法，同时复习了之前所学的有关have作为“万能do”的用法。

从上半册开始到本课为止，have作为实义动词，其主要用法有：

1、表“有”

其基本用法为：

sb. have/has/had sth.

如：

He has many books in his study.

2、表“生病”

其基本用法为：

sb. have/has/had a+疾病

或

sb. have/has/had+疾病

如：

He has a high temperature today.

She had flu yesterday.

3、表“万能do”

其基本用法为：

sb. have/has/had a+名词（常表动作）

如：

I had a swim in the river last Saturday.

She is having a walk in the garden now.

4、表“吃喝”

其基本用法为：

sb. have/has/had sth.

如：

She had a cake for lunch yesterday.

We're having coffee in the living room now.

三、更多拓展

Sam and I had lunch together today. We went to a restaurant.

注意第一句中have之所以用了过去式had，是因为此时已经是晚饭时间，而这句话中所学的today其实指的是今天中午，是已经过去了的时间。

而第二句话中所提到的go to the restaurant是用来说明Sam and I今天中午是到哪儿吃的中饭，动作发生的时间也是过去的，所以go要采用过去式went。

对于英语而言，动词的使用一定要注意其发生的时间，要根据其发生的时间来选用相应的时态。
