【原】大学英语六级核心词汇A开头（三）

背单词的正确方法是：有规律的单词按规律来记忆，这样的记忆才长久；没有规律的单词，找出属于自己的规律；不过英语中每个单词的构词法基本上都有规律，所以一定要先掌握规律，而且最好是属于自己的记忆规律，当然可以借鉴一些高效的记忆方法。

1. aesthetic [iːsˈθetɪk]

词性：adj. /n.

释义：美学的，审美的，艺术的；美感，审美观

例句：

The benefits of conservation are both financial and aesthetic.

保护自然环境在经济上和美化环境上都有好处。

Their furniture was more aesthetic than functional.

他们的家具美观多于实用。

2. affiliate [əˈfɪlieɪt , əˈfɪliət]

词性：v. (常用被动) /n.

释义：使隶属，使并入，加入，与…有关；附属机构，分公司

搭配：affiliate sb/sth (with/to sb/sth)，affiliate (yourself) (with sb/sth)

例句：

The hospital is affiliated with the local university.

这家医院附属于当地大学。

The majority of people questioned affiliated themselves with a religious group.

接受询问的人大多数都属于某个宗教团体。

Most of today's group are from our foreign affiliates. 

今天的团体大部分是我们的外国分公司。

4. afflict [əˈflɪkt]

词性：vt. (常用被动)

释义：折磨，使痛苦

例句：

Italy has been afflicted by political corruption for decades.

几十年来意大利一直饱受政治腐败之苦。

推荐的记忆方法：前缀 af- 表“加强” + flict 冲突 → 加大冲突 → 使痛苦

5. agenda [əˈdʒendə]

词性：n.

释义：议事日程，（会议的）议程表

例句：

The next item on the agenda is the publicity budget.

议程表上的下一项是宣传预算。

推荐的记忆方法：前缀 ag- 表“做，代理，引导” + enda 表示名词多数 → 做的事情→议程表

6. aggravate [ˈæɡrəveɪt]

词性：vt.

释义：使严重，使恶化，加重，加剧

例句：

Pollution can aggravate asthma [ˈæsmə].

污染会使气喘加重。

7. agitation  [ˌædʒɪˈteɪʃn]

释义：焦虑不安，忧虑，烦乱；煽动，鼓动，骚动

9. agreeable  [əˈɡriːəbl]

释义：愉悦的，讨人喜欢的；欣然同意；可以接受的，适合的

搭配：agreeable (to sb/sth)

例句：

We spent a most agreeable day together.

我们在一起度过了非常愉快的一天。

Do you think they will be agreeable to our proposal?

The deal must be agreeable to both sides.

交易必须是双方都可以接受的。

释义：警觉的，警惕的；警戒，戒备，警报，意识到；使警报，使警觉，使戒备

例句：

我们必须认识到危险的可能性。

Police are warning the public to be on the alert for suspicious packages.

警方警告公众要警惕可疑包裹。

Neighbours quickly alerted the emergency services.

11. alien [ˈeɪliən]

词性：adj.  /n.

释义：陌生的，不熟悉；外国的，异域的；不相容的，相抵触；外星的；外星人；外国人

搭配：alien (to sb/sth)

例句：

Such an attitude is alien to most businessmen.

大多数商界人士都会对这样的态度感到陌生。

Cruelty was quite alien to him.

他绝无残忍之心。

释义：（常用被动）断言，声称，宣称
